【摘要】:1.1Thispracticedescribesequipmentandproceduresforthecalibrationofsystemsusedformeasuringvehicularresponsetopavementroughness.Suchsystemsarereferredtoasresponse-typesystems.(SeeTestMethodE1082.)1.2Theresponse-typesystemincludesthedrivenvehicle,thedriverandcontentsofthevehicle,thetowedtrailer(ifoneisusedwiththesystem),andadevicecalledaroadmeterthatmeasuresthevehicleresponsetopavementroughness.Theroadmetermaybemountedinanautomobile,van,orinatowedtrailer.Response-type(roadmeter)devicescoveredinthispracticeinclude:devicesmeasuringtherelativeaxle-bodymotionofavehicle,devicesmeasuringtheverticalaccelerationofthevehiclebody,anddevicesmeasuringtheverticalaccelerationofthevehicleaxle.1.3ThecalibrationproceduresdescribedinthispracticearelimitedtotheuseofthesimulationsdescribedinPracticeE1170.1.4Thispracticeisnotintendedtoapplytopavementroughnessmeasuringequipmentwhoseoutputisnotinfluencedbytheresponseofthehostvehicle.1.5Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.TheSIunitsgiveninparenthesesmaybeapproximateandareforinformationalpurposesonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
